Bisham Abbey Sailing and Navigation School

Welcome to Bisham Abbey Sailing and Navigation School based within Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, located on the banks of the River Thames just outside Marlow in Buckinghamshire.  Established in 1991 the School is an RYA recognised training centre run by Roy, Jan and Peter May.  The School Principal is Tom Sowerby. Over the past 22 years we have won awards for both our training and our customer service.

We offer a wide range of RYA courses from beginners dinghy sailing for children and adults to shore-based theory Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Ocean; all the add-on courses that you would expect, i.e. VHF, GMDSS, First Aid, Diesel Engine and Radar plus practical motor boat handling courses including Inland Waterways Helmsman Course (IWHC), Inland Waterways Crew Course (IWCC), Powerboat Level 1 & 2 (inland), the International Certificate of Competence (ICC), CEVNI tests and RYA/MCA Basic Sea Survival / Water Safety.  We run the two day shore-based theory RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course aimed at the complete novice, and also have examiners authorised to carry out Boat Safety Scheme inspections.
