This course is offered on the Chesapeake Bay, The student will be "hands on" from the beginning. The course covers the following and the student will be doing all of following in a stepped approach to learning. Basic sailing - instructs the student first in how a sailboat sails, followed by how to position and trim the sails, and how to handle the halyards and sheets. Thereafter, the student will learn: Boating Safety - it's easy to have fun on a boat, and it's easy to forget you're on a boat. There's more to it than meets the eye. There are safety issues to keep in mind. The course then will proceed with the student having "hands-on operation of the vessel through maneuvers dealing with docking and anchoring, operating the boat under power; Daytime Navigation (Intro); and Coastal Piloting (Intro); vessel systems including plumbing, fuel and engine. The course is 32 hours over 4 days (two weekends).
There is no experience required for this 4 day course over a two weekend time period. We take you from "This is a boat" and understanding sailing principals, through navigation and plotting your course, anchoring and knowledge of safety issues relevant to being on the water.
