You will meet your Instructor in "The Sloop" - our dedicated dinghy sailors' room. You will be briefed on the day's activities and perhaps do a bit of theory, then go outside to rig your boat in the dinghy park while the Instructor gets the Safety Boat ready. Then it's all afloat to start with some warm-up exercises - if you are a complete beginner this will be a demonstration of how to steer the boat and adjust the sails. For those with a bit more experience, perhaps "follow my leader" behind the Safety Boat. After a break ashore for snacks or lunch, you'll then be back on the water for a second session. At the end of the day you will pack away your boats, and have a de-brief to reinforce what you have learned during the day. To relax in the evening you can enjoy a drink from the bar and a meal in the restaurant - or in good weather sit outside on the west-facing lawn to admire the sunset. Then it's more of the same tomorrow, building up your skills and confidence so that you can start to sail independently, and in time go cruising and explore the beautiful harbour or join in the Club racing.
No prior experience is needed, though you must be able to swim. For children, the minimum age for starting to sail is 8.
